Dr Pal Dhall, director of the Institute of Sathya Sai Education in Canberra, Australia, spoke about the significance of this symbolic walk through the Australian National Institutions. He also spoke about why we need values in our daily lives. In his address to the Canberra Walk for Values, Dr Pal Dhall said:

When we think strongly about something, we undertake action. This can take many forms, a demonstration, a strike, and so on. Our walk is not a demonstration, it is not a strike, it is a celebration. We have undertaken for ourselves and or our nation, a journey. It is a spiritual journey, a spiritual event. It is an event with integrity, where we walk for values, we walk in values, we embody and practise these values. We are walking our talk. We are raising consciousness in this country when we walk for values.
Manager of St Vincent De Paul, Mr Mike Tarn

The news in the world is news of disaster and the collapse of important structures in society, world wide. People are disillusioned and have lost faith in the governing structures and the spiritual structures which are supposed to support them. Looking at the planetary disasters, scientists world-wide met and said that a charter for responsibilities is needed.
National Walk for Values, Canberra

This charter of responsibilities cannot be fulfilled by government nor religious structures, for people at large have lost confidence in these structures to guide for the benefit of mankind as a whole. Thus, we must have something that is found in all climates, in every nation, in every religion.

What do we find that is timeless, eternal, changeless? Is is Human Values. These human values are the true responsibilities which can be fulfilled effortlessly by every human, by living and following their conscience.
National Walk for Values, Canberra

The Canberra Walk for Values was concluded with the Sai children performing a recital on practical application of Human Values Love, Truth, Peace, Non-violence and Right Conduct in their day to day activities, and the final activity was a values song.
